- Do not give out personal information like addresses, phone numbers or the name and location of your school.
- Tell your parents right away if you come across any information that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Never agree to get together with someone you "meet" online without first checking with your parents.
- Never send a person your picture or anything else without first checking with your parents.
- Do not respond to messages that are mean or make you feel uncomfortable. It is not your fault if you get a message like that. Tell your parents right away.
- Talk with your parents so that you can set up rules for going online. Decide on the time of day and the length of time you can be online and appropriate areas you can visit.
- Do not give out your password to anyone (even best friends) other than your parents.
- Check with your parents before downloading software that could possibly hurt your computer or jeopardize your family's privacy.
- Be a good online citizen and not do anything that hurts other people or is against the law.
- Help your parents understand how to have fun and learn things online and teach them things about the Internet, computers and other technology.
