George, why are you changing the name of this help section to "Let's Make a Fashion Statement"? With your tech skills and knowledge of not only computer repair and troubleshooting, but also the Promethean Board workings and tech related communication, you don't really believe all this time, energy, and resources spent on delivering the technology to the classroom, not to mention the tremendous time we as teachers spend in in-services, training, and running around to get this stuff to work insted of using the time in the classroom or with our students is not essential? Please don't shake my faith. D
Dear D, Don't make me reach right through and give you a good shaking (and I don't mean a handshaking). Only you can determine the value of any new technology to you as a teacher or in your classroom. Sure, there will always be those who fall down and worship at the server farm of the technology god, but ... If some piece or aspect of technology demands more time and/or resources to implement/integrate than it benefits, then either change yourself to make it work or move on. The Cisco cornucopia can be wonderful, but your commitment is to your students and you must work from there. I have to say that it took HP a long time to convince me to give up my slide rule in favor of an electronic calculator (my father could still outperform me and my HP 35 with his slide rule until well into the 80s).
