Thank you for helping us make the transition with some of our new rules concerning dismissal and drop/pick up.  Please remember that these changes have been put in place with the safety of your child(ren) in mind.

You will notice several changes to our physical plant this year.

  • The new Pre-K building is complete, and Ms. Trecost has moved in.
  • Ms Fran Huggins is going to be our parent advisor. One of her many responsibilities will be getting the library in order so that it can be used by the students.
  • The walls of the classrooms in the auditorium are down to make way for a large auditorium / multi-purpose area. This space will allow us to accommodate larger groups for Math Night, Literacy Night etc. We will no longer need to have two of each in order to service the entire school. The auditorium will also be used for P.E. in inclement weather, and for interdisciplinary class projects and productions.
  • Plans are being drawn for a new iron fence and landscaping with improved parking in front of the school. (We will still have limited parking.)
  • The exterior of the school is scheduled to be painted and repaired.  The classrooms are scheduled to receive new blinds. We will also be receiving doors that lock when closed and open with a push bar.

This will enhance the safety of the school.

  • The rear portion of the faculty parking area on the north side of the building will no longer be used for parking but exclusively for a P.E. play area.

In order to ensure the safety of our students, we are implementing a single point of entry for Ella Dolhonde. All parents and visitors are to only use the big doors in the front of the building. Parents must come to the office, receive a pass, get permission from the teacher, and be announced before going to any classrooms. If you need to talk to a teacher simply call her voicemail and leave a message. Please remember to pick up and drop off your students at the gate. People will be at the front gate to meet pre-k, kindergarten, and special needs students.

Rainy days pose a special challenge. In the morning, you may bring your child to the front door. The students will then sit in lines outside their classrooms. At dismissal, you may come to the front door and a teacher will call your child from the basement  to meet you.
